Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route 11 Days Overview
Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route 11 days trekking tour up to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, using the Lemosho Route. This route is still known as one of the most beautiful and untouched ones as it is less frequented. As there is two different ways for the climb up and down you will come across different scenery, each having its own attraction.
Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Details
11 DAYS / 10 NIGHTS “Through western Bridge” This is one of the longest route for trekking Kilimanjaro.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Arusha for overnight.
Pick up from Kilimanjaro International Airport after the arrival time of your flight and transfer to Arusha for D/O proceed with early evening pre- trekking briefing at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at SG resort. Meal plan bed & Breakfast
Day 2: Arusha to Landrosi gate
Leave Arusha after breakfast and transfer to Landrose gate for registration while accompanied with professional and licensed Mountain Guide, cook and porter. After clearance proceed to Trail Head with 4 WD jeep for Luggage weighting and then set forth for trekking towards forest Camp 2375m from the sea Level which takes between 3- 4 Hours for Dinner and Overnight at Forest camp.
Day 3: Forest camp to Shira 1 campsite
Leave forest camp after breakfast to Shira 1 Campsite for Dinner and Overnight while breaking off for picnic lunch on the way. At this stage the weather becomes more dries and the Terrain is more of heather and moor land zone. It covers upto 3700m from the sea level and takes 5- 6 hours. Dinner and overnight at Shira 1 campsite.
Day 4: Shira 1 to Shira 2 campsite
Leave shira 1 Camp after breakfast to Shira 2 Camp with picnic lunch on the way. The Terrain here is relatively flat and easily from Shira 1. It covers more of heather and moorland zone. It covers distance of up to 3950m from the sea level. And this takes between5-6 hours. Overnight at Shira 2 camp.
Day5; Shira 2 to Barranco
Leave shira 2 campsite after breakfast to Barranco. The Terrain here is more of alpine desert zone and moorland desert zone too especially in Barranco valley. We will be able to reach lava tower 4600m from the sea level. The vegetations here are more of the Scenario and lobelia plants around the Campsite. It covers up to distance of 3950m from the sea level. Overnight at Barranco camp.
Day 6: Barranco to Karanga camp
After morning breakfast Leave Barranco to Karanga camp with picnic lunch boxes. It covers a distance of up to 3960m from the sea level and it takes 3 – 4 hours trekking through this tedious terrain. The vegetations are more of Alpine desert. The air is very dry and requires you to take more water. Dinner and overnight at Karanga camp.
Day 7: Karanga to Barafu
Leave Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp while accompanied with picnic lunch boxes. It covers a distance of up to 4630m from the sea level and vegetation is more Alpine desert. It takes 4 – 5 hours trekking to the Camp. Overnight at Barafu camp.
Day 8 Barafu camp to Crater Camp.
After breakfast leave Barafu Camp to Crater Camp while accompanied with picnic lunch boxes. It covers the height of 5715m from the sea level and takes 6-8 hours trekking through this tedious terrain with very cold temperatures. Spend more of the day doing much of the acclimatization. Overnight at Crater camp.
Day 9: Crater camp to Mweka camp
Leave Crater Camp early in the morning to Uhuru Summit 5895m from the sea level which takes 2 hours. After taking some photos and signing start descending to Barafu Camp for hot lunch then proceed for overnight at MWIKA CAMP.
DAY 10: MWIKA CAMP – MWIKA GATE.
After breakfast leave mwika camp which takes between 3 – 4 hours. After clearance and being awarded with Certificate as a sign of conquering the highest Peak of Africa, then transfer to Arusha for Dinner and overnight at SG resort. Meal plan BB
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast leave the Hotel for light shopping then transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure/ Start your safari program depending on your arrangements.
